Mumbai: Swami Avimukteshwaranand, Shankaracharya of Jyotirmath in Uttarakhand, has commended Maharashtra state Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and the Mahayuti government. Under this administration, Maharashtra has become the first state in India to bestow the status of “mother cow” on cows, underscoring its commitment to traditional values and animal protection.
Shankaracharya Avimukteshwaranand likened this important step to the ideals of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, emphasizing that the Mahayuti government’s decision honours and safeguards Hindu cultural values. While clarifying that he is not affiliated with any political party, the Shankaracharya encouraged Hindus across Maharashtra to support the Mahayuti government in the upcoming elections, praising leaders who uphold respect for the cow, a revered symbol in Hindu culture.
