Mumbai, (Nilesh Khandare): The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) and the Korean Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) celebrated the success of KOLAB, the Indo-Korean Music Collaboration Programme, at an exclusive listening session in Andheri, Mumbai. The event showcased the unique and vibrant compositions created by 19 Indian and Korean music creators during the KOLAB songwriting camp held from November 6th to 12th at the True School of Music, Vijaybhoomi University, Jamrung.
KOLAB brought together diverse musical influences, blending Indian and Korean elements in original cross-cultural compositions. Guided by Creative Directors Bunty Bains and Mayur Puri, the artists explored new styles and techniques, pushing creative boundaries. Mr. Mayur Puri, a lyricist, screenwriter, and IPRS Board Member noted that KOLAB allowed young creators to express themselves freely, resulting in fresh music that celebrated both cultures.
Mr. Kim Kibeom of KOMCA shared that the collaboration broadened the artistic horizons of Korean participants, giving them a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in Indian music styles. Bunty Bains, CEO of Bunty Bains Productions, emphasized the synergy that defined KOLAB, leading to remarkable compositions that blended tradition with contemporary sounds.
Rakesh Nigam, CEO of IPRS, expressed optimism about the impact of KOLAB on the artists’ future careers and the global music landscape, highlighting the importance of providing creative freedom in the artistic process.
The success of KOLAB marks a significant step in fostering Indo-Korean musical partnerships, setting the stage for emerging artists to gain recognition and continue building connections across cultural boundaries.
