(BSE: 539523, NSE: ALKEM, “Alkem” and its subsidiaries) announced the launch of semaglutide injection in India <a rel="noreferrer noreferrer">under the brand names “<i>Semasize”</i>, <i>Obesema” </i>and <i>“Hepaglide”. </i>Semaglutide is administered as a subcutaneous injection, once weekly.</a><i></i></p><p>The company has launched its semaglutide pre-filled disposable injection pen at a price starting INR 1,800 for a month’s dosage, which translates into a weekly cost of INR 450. Through an affordable pricing, Alkem aims to lower barriers to initiation and expand access to this therapy in India.</p><p>Alkem has received approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for manufacturing and marketing semaglutide for type 2 diabetes mellitus and chronic weight management as an adjunct to diet and exercise, subsequent to a review of its Phase 3 clinical trials conducted in India. Semaglutide is a prescription product and should be taken under appropriate medical supervision.</p><p><a rel="noreferrer noreferrer">Apart from disposable pen, Alkem is offering reusable injection pen for semaglutide administration for higher maintenance doses. </div><br></div><div>Mumbai: Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, the Government of India and Indian missions abroad are actively engaged in efforts to safely evacuate Indian citizens. Multiple alternative routes are being used to facilitate their return.</div><div><br></div><div>According to the Ministry of External Affairs, around 244,000 Indians have returned safely to the country since the conflict began on February 28. To bring back those stranded in war-affected areas, the Indian government is maintaining close contact with top leadership across West Asia and the Middle East, while Indian missions overseas are operating fully in “mission mode.”</div><div><br></div><div>Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, speaking at an inter-ministerial briefing on March 17, said that approximately 700 Indian nationals have reached Armenia and Azerbaijan via land routes from Iran, from where they are returning to India. He added, “All 284 pilgrims who had gone to Iran have also safely reached Armenia. Out of these, 130 pilgrims will arrive in Delhi today.” Spokesperson Jaiswal noted that the MEA’s control room is fully operational and assisting citizens, and that the volume of incoming calls and emails has significantly decreased.</div><div><br></div><div>The Indian Embassy in Doha has facilitated the evacuation of more than 1,600 Indians through Qatar Airways flights. It also informed that temporary transit visa facilities for Saudi Arabia are being provided, helping those who wish to return to India via land through the Salwa border. The embassy stated that its office will remain open throughout the week to offer consular services, including passport issuance.</div><div><br></div><div>Additionally, in a post on X, the embassy said that as part of ongoing relief efforts supported by the mission, dry ration is being distributed to members of the Indian fishing community residing in Qatar.</div><div><br></div><div>Further, Additional Secretary (Gulf) in the Ministry of External Affairs, Aseem R. Mahajan, stated in a press briefing, “Indian missions in the region are working round the clock. Cardiologists say the condition remains an under-recognised cause of progressive heart failure, particularly among older adults who may attribute these symptoms to ageing and delay seeking medical attention.</div><div><br></div><div>When left untreated, severe mitral valve leakage can place continuous strain on the heart, often resulting in recurrent hospital admissions and declining heart function.</div><div><br></div><div>TEER offers an alternative for patients who may not be suitable candidates for open-heart surgery. During the procedure, doctors guide a thin catheter through a vein in the leg and advance it to the heart. Using continuous imaging guidance, a small device is positioned on the mitral valve to help the valve leaflets come together more effectively and reduce the backward flow of blood.</div><div><br></div><div>The patient who underwent the procedure had been living with severe mitral valve leakage and had required multiple hospital admissions due to worsening breathlessness and fluid retention. Given the patient’s age and associated medical conditions, conventional surgery was considered high risk. After detailed cardiac imaging and evaluation by a multidisciplinary heart team, TEER was recommended as a suitable treatment option.</div><div><br></div><div>Following the procedure, doctors reported improvement in the patient’s symptoms, including reduced breathlessness, fewer episodes of fluid retention, and better ability to carry out daily activities.</div><div><br></div><div>Dr. Ankur Phatarpekar, Interventional Cardiologist at the hospital, said, “In many cases, we see patients who are admitted several times with breathlessness because the leaking valve continues to place extra strain on the heart. For elderly patients or those with other health conditions that make surgery risky, TEER offers a less invasive alternative. The procedure allows us to repair the valve through a catheter without opening the chest, and many patients experience meaningful symptom relief and fewer hospitalisations. When the pressure on the heart is reduced, patients often find it easier to breathe, move around, and return to their daily routines with greater comfort and independence.”</div><div><br></div><div>Cardiologists say that early diagnosis of valve disease remains important, as timely intervention can help prevent the progression of heart failure. With advances in catheter-based procedures such as TEER, minimally invasive techniques are increasingly improving symptom control, reducing hospitalisations and supporting better long-term functional outcomes for patients with complex valve disease.</div>

Recognizing the serious health impacts of adulterated food and the increasing use of chemical pesticides, Gujarati farmer-entrepreneur Shailesh Jaria launched his organic brand 'Gir Veggies' in Mumbai. Indian MMA fighter and actor Sangram Singh, who has been appointed as the brand's ambassador, was also present on the occasion.</p>
<p dir="ltr">At a press conference in Mumbai, Shailesh Jaria explained that adulterated and chemical-laden foods are a major cause of diseases like cancer, diabetes, blood pressure, and heart attacks. He said, "When I went to the market to buy fruits and vegetables, I often wondered whether I was buying food or a slow-acting poison. That's when the idea came to develop our traditional farming methods organically and provide pure and healthy food to the people."</p>
<p dir="ltr"> The 'Shaileshbhai Ni Vaadi' farm, located in Amrapur Gir village in Junagadh district of Gujarat, practices organic farming under the 'Gir Veggies' brand. Over 30 varieties of fruits and over 50 vegetables are grown here, including mangoes, guavas, bananas, papayas, pomegranates, and berries, along with many seasonal fruits. Grains such as wheat, millet, corn, chickpeas, and pigeon peas are also grown. Under the scheme, these products will be delivered directly from the farm to consumers.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Sangram Singh praised the initiative, saying that in today's fast-paced urban life, people are increasingly moving away from natural and pure food. "As children, we used to eat fruits straight from the trees, but that experience has disappeared in cities. When Shailesh Jaria told me about his organic farm and talked about delivering fresh fruits and vegetables directly from the farm to homes, I found the initiative very positive," he said.  Sangram Singh also stated that he has personally tasted the farm's fruits and found them to be of excellent quality.</p>
<p dir="ltr">It is worth noting that Sangram Singh is also scheduled to compete in an international MMA bout in Argentina on April 5, 2026, as part of the "Samurai Fight League," where he will face a French opponent.</p>
<p dir="ltr">Gir Veggies will initially deliver organic fruits and vegetables twice a week to the Kandivali, Borivali, Dahisar, and Malad areas of Mumbai. The company's goal is to provide pure, fresh, and chemical-free food products by establishing a direct connection between farmers and consumers.</p>
