He was recognised as one of the most creative filmmakers and among the most prolific short filmmakers working on social issues having created more than 750 short films and documentaries on subjects including tourism, Beti Bachao, child labour, drug abuse, smoking,  Behrupiyatraditions and several other important social and human-interest issues.</div><div><br></div><div><b>The award was presented by renowned actress Ameesha Patel and noted philanthropist and entrepreneur Dr. Manju Lodha. </b></div><div><br></div><div>The jury members expressed their happiness in honouring Avinash Tripathi, acknowledging his ability to transform serious social concerns into engaging and emotionally compelling visual narratives. The meeting aimed to further deepen strategic, economic, and defence cooperation between India and the African continent.</div><div><br></div><div>According to a statement issued by the Ministry of External Affairs, while addressing the gathering, the External Affairs Minister highlighted the strong ideological and historical foundations of the India-Africa partnership. He said, "Our intertwined histories acquired another dimension, a somber one, during the colonial era, when our peoples suffered under the yoke of colonialism. India and Africa stood together in their common struggle for freedom and for human dignity – and that bonding continues even today"</div><div><br></div><div><b>Dr. Jaishankar</b> emphasized that India is today among Africa’s largest trade and investment partners. Sharing key figures, he noted that bilateral trade between the two sides has reached USD 93 billion, while India’s cumulative investment in Africa has exceeded USD 80 billion. He underlined that Africa, with its young population and abundant natural resources, stands on the threshold of transformation and complements India’s innovation-driven growth journey.</div><div><br></div><div>He said, "India stands for an inclusive, demand-driven development cooperation with Africa that enhances local capacity to support national priorities. To this end, I recognize today that Government of India has extended a 190 Line of Credits (LOC), exceeding USD 10 billion for projects in over 40 countries in Africa. So far, more than 220 projects worth USD 4.5 billion have been successfully completed, many others are in the pipeline. "</div><div><br></div><div><b>Reaffirming India’s commitment to the Global South, Dr. Jaishankar said</b>, "At a time when conflicts increasingly impact the Global South, our partnership focusses has also focused on food security. Recent examples include supply of food grains to Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Lesotho, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Nigeria, Botswana, and Sierra Leone. Our experience in reviving millet production is also very useful for African nations. During the procedure, thin electrodes are implanted in carefully selected areas of the brain to deliver controlled electrical impulses that help regulate abnormal brain activity responsible for tremors, stiffness and involuntary movements.</div><div>Today's advanced DBS systems use directional electrodes, which enable doctors to steer electrical stimulation towards the precise brain region requiring treatment while avoiding nearby areas that may produce unwanted side effects. However, this technology can deliver its full benefits only when the exact orientation of these electrodes is known after surgery.</div><div>Presently, doctors rely on commercially available softwares to inform them about the orientation of the electrodes. Surprisingly, these were being used without any real life clinical validation. The Jaslok study addresses this important gap.</div><div>Conducted prospectively between 2022 and 2024, the research evaluated 70 directional DBS electrodes implanted in 35 patients. The study compared two different imaging techniques used after surgery to determine electrode orientation. The findings showed that rotational fluoroscopy, interpreted using the "Iron Sights Method", demonstrated excellent reliability and closely matched the results generated by specialised CT-based planning software that is widely used internationally.</div><div>This allows neurologists and neurosurgeons to program DBS devices with greater precision, ultimately helping patients receive more effective symptom relief while minimizing stimulation-related side effects.</div><div>Beyond validating a technology, the study strengthens evidence-based clinical practice by helping doctors make better-informed programming decisions after surgery.
