</div></div><div><b>Vadodara: </b>Ahead of <b>Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Vadodara</b>, the Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) has undertaken a large-scale cleanliness and environmental campaign across the city, with participation from thousands of citizens, sanitation workers, officials, elected representatives, educational institutions and NGOs.</div><div><br></div><div>Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Vadodara on September 8, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for various development projects worth Rs. 35,200 crore in Gujarat. He will also address the ‘NaMo 4 Viksit Bharat’ event in the city.</div><div><br></div><div>The cleanliness campaign, being conducted as part of the Gujarat government’s special ‘Swachhata Se Swagat’ initiative for the visit, has focused on public spaces, lakes, gardens, healthcare and childcare facilities, heritage sites, water bodies and other parts of the city. The campaign from September 1 to 4 saw extensive participation across the city. </div><div><br></div><div>On September 1, over 16,000 citizens participated in a cleanliness drive at Kamlanagar Lake and its surrounding areas, while 24,000 people took part in cleanliness activities across 19 wards. Around 300 machines and vehicles, including mechanical sweepers, self-propelled sweeping machines, door-to-door collection vehicles, e-vehicles, JCBs and dumpers, were deployed for the operations. Plantation and sapling distribution activities were also carried out as part of environmental awareness campaign.</div><div><br></div><div>On September 2, the VMC extended the campaign to Anganwadi Centres and Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs). Cleanliness drives were conducted at 30 Anganwadi Centres with the participation of around 3,000 people.</div><div><br></div><div>Cleanliness activities were also held at 101 UPHCs, comprising 78 government and 23 private centres, with participation from nearly 24,000 citizens. The campaign brought together civic officials and staff, sanitation workers, public representatives, healthcare institutions, educational institutions, NGOs and citizens. Around 2,400 saplings were planted and distributed across Anganwadi Centres, UPHCs and other locations.</div><div><br></div><div>On September 3, the drive focused on the city’s heritage and cultural assets. Around 1,200 people participated in the cleanliness drive at Karodiya Stepwell, while over 25,000 citizens took part in cleanliness activities across all 19 wards. The campaign covered around 47 km across Karodiya Stepwell and other locations in the city. More than 2,400 saplings were planted and distributed, while 320 machines and vehicles were deployed. The drive sought to combine cleanliness and beautification with environmental stewardship, with particular emphasis on heritage sites, stepwells and other cultural spaces.</div><div><br></div><div>The campaign continued on September 4 with a focus on Vadodara’s natural and recreational assets. Around 1,200 people participated in cleanliness activities at Gotri Lake and Garden and the Kamlanagar Lake and Garden area. Around 12,000 participants joined the cleanliness drive along the Kavad Yatra route, covering approximately 80 km, while another 25,000 citizens participated in drives across all 19 wards. The day’s activities covered approximately 140 km in total, with 380 machines and vehicles deployed. Around 2,700 saplings were planted and distributed.</div><div><br></div><div>The activities were aimed not only at cleaning public spaces but also at encouraging greater citizen participation and awareness of the importance of maintaining the city’s public, natural and cultural assets.</div>

</div><br></div><div><b>Mumbai Police Conduct Raids, Confiscate Large Quantity of Counterfeit SKF Bearings</b></div><div><br></div><div><b>Mumbai:</b> SKF, a leading bearings brand in India, in coordination with the Pydhonie Police Station, conducted enforcement action in Mumbai to curb the proliferation of counterfeit SKF products in the market</div><div><br></div><div>The raids were conducted on 31 August 2026 at three locations in Masjid Bandar, Pydhonie, Mumbai, comprising two wholesale entities and one branding unit (karkhana), with the assistance of officials from Pydhonie Police Station. Three persons were arrested from three different locations in Masjid Bandar, Pydhonie.</div><div><br></div><div>The wholesale entites were found selling counterfeit bearings to consumers in Mumbai and surrounding regions. The Karkhana was being used for Branding “<b>SKF</b>” name on raw bearings. The enforcement action resulted in the seizure of more than 780 pieces of fake bearings & 20000 outerbox packaging sheets.</div>

</div></div><div><b>Dev, Dharma and Desh is the guiding principle of our work," says Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant</b></div><div><br></div><div><b>Mumbai:</b> A centuries-old chapter of Goa's heritage began anew today as the restoration of the original site of Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple was formally launched at Divar under the Koti Teerth Corridor Development Project. <b>Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Union Minister Shripad Naik</b> inaugurated the restoration through the traditional rituals of Udak Shanti and Ganga Pujan.</div><div><br></div><div>The project revives a sacred site that remained without a temple for nearly four and a half centuries. Beyond the restoration of the temple, the Koti Teerth Corridor aims to conserve the heritage precinct stretching from Mahadev Tali to Koti Teerth and Hatkeshwar Ghat, celebrating Divar's rich religious, cultural and historical legacy.</div><div><br></div><div>Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said Goa's history must be preserved and passed on to future generations. He recalled that the State had witnessed the rule of the Bhojas, Chalukyas, Kadambas, Adilshahi and the Portuguese, and noted that many temples were destroyed during the Portuguese era. "Dev, Dharma and Desh is the guiding principle of our work. It is our responsibility to ensure that the next generation understands Goa's glorious history and heritage," he said.</div><div><br></div><div>CM Dr. Sawant also highlighted the contributions of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in restoring the Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj's resistance against forced religious conversions in Goa. Referring to the history of Cuncolim, the Pinto Revolt and the struggle led by Dipaji Rane, he said these events remain defining chapters of Goa's identity. He added that the recent discovery of remains linked to the original temple site had added special significance to the restoration, and expressed confidence that the project would be completed within a year.</div><div><br></div><div>Historically known as Deepavati Kshetra, Divar is mentioned in the Sahyadri Khand of the Skanda Purana for its spiritual importance. Built during the Kadamba dynasty in the distinctive Kadamba Nagar Prasad architectural style, Shri Saptakoteshwar Temple was one of Goa's most revered temples. </div></div><div>Students from 28 states and 8 Union Territories participate in one of India’s largest mental mathematics competitions; national and international dignitaries mark the milestone edition</div><div><br></div><div><b>Mumbai:</b> More than 7,000 students from 28 states and 8 Union Territories showcased their mathematical prowess, concentration and mental agility at the 25th <b>UCMAS National Competition 2026,</b> held on September 5 and 6 at the CIDCO Exhibition & Convention Centre, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.</div><div>One of India’s largest platforms dedicated to mental mathematics and cognitive skill development among children, the two-day competition also witnessed the presence of over 14,000 parents and visitors, turning the milestone edition into a nationwide celebration of young talent.</div><div>The competition was graced by <b>Sachin Ahir</b>, Deputy Speaker, Maharashtra State Legislative House, <b>Bhalchandrasing Raorane</b>, Chairman, Federation of Industries of India (FII), along with senior international leadership from UCMAS, including Prof. D<b>r.
