Sutar, the eminent sculptor and designer of national pride “Statue of Unity - Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel”.  It followed with lighting of lamps by Chief Guest H.E. Aliaksandr Matsukou, Consul General of the Republic of Belarus in Mumbai, along with Guest of Honor Dr. Vijay G. Kalantri, Chairman World Trade Centre. Under the agreement, 100% of Indian exports to New Zealand will receive tariff-free access. The agreement was signed in the presence of Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and New Zealand’s Commerce Minister Todd McClay.</div><div><br></div><div>Following the agreement, EAM Jaishankar wrote on social media platform X, “The signing of India - New Zealand Free Trade Agreement today is a landmark for our ties. The FTA will forge stronger economic partnerships, boost investments and enhance market access for our exporters. It will also unlock new opportunities for innovators, entrepreneurs, farmers, MSMEs, women and youth. </div><div><br></div><div>In his post, the minister also shared key figures indicating significant benefits for India. He noted that the agreement includes a provision under which New Zealand will invest $20 billion in India over the next 15 years. Additionally, Indian exports will receive a major boost due to duty-free access to the New Zealand market, particularly benefiting sectors such as textiles, pharmaceuticals, and engineering. The agreement also provides for 5,000 annual visas for skilled professionals, which will enhance mobility in sectors like IT and healthcare. Currently, around 8,000 Indian students are studying in New Zealand, and the new agreement will further ease post-study work visa rules for them.</div><div><br></div><div>Dr. Jaishankar emphasized that the agreement was concluded in record time under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon. Notably, economic ties between the two countries are now at their strongest, with a shared goal of doubling bilateral trade to $5 billion over the next five years.</div>

Around 19 members of the U.S. Congress, along with administrative officials and members of the Indian diaspora, attended the event and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening India–U.S. counterterrorism cooperation.</div><div><br></div><div>The digital exhibition also showcased major terrorist attacks from around the world, including the 1993 Mumbai bombings and the 2008 Mumbai attacks. It identified the terrorist organizations responsible for these incidents, including several Pakistan-based individuals and groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba.</div><div><br></div><div>Sharing images of the event on social media platform X on April 23, the Indian Embassy stated, “A special exhibition titled ‘The Human Cost of Terrorism’ was hosted on Capitol Hill today, marking the solemn anniversary of the Pahalgam Terror attack and honoring the memory of its innocent victims.”</div><div><br></div><div>The Embassy added, “We are deeply appreciative of the presence of 19 Members of the United States Congress, Administration officials, diaspora leaders, and other U.S. partners, whose participation underscored a shared resolve to strengthen the India-US counterterrorism partnership and to stand united in the global fight against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”</div><div><br></div><div>During the event, Ambassador Kwatra strongly condemned terrorism in all its forms and reiterated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has clearly articulated India’s unwavering resolve to combat and defeat terrorism. He emphasized that countries around the world must come together with determination to defeat terrorism.</div><div><br></div><div>On the occasion, U.S. Congressman Brad Sherman called for stronger action by Pakistan against groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
