</div><br></div><div>Mumbai: The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) organized the Sri Lanka Tourism Networking Evening in Mumbai, aimed at deepening tourism, trade, and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and India. The event brought together leading Indian tour operators, travel agents, MICE planners, corporates, airlines, and media representatives, along with members of Sri Lanka’s travel and tourism industry. The initiative served as a key platform for dialogue, collaboration, and business development, highlighting Sri Lanka’s growing appeal as a preferred destination for leisure, business, and weddings.</div><div><br></div><div>Sri Lanka’s tourism industry witnessed a remarkable resurgence in 2025, registering a record high of approximately 2.36 million international tourist arrivals the highest annual figure on record for the island nation. India continues to be the leading source market, contributing over 5,31,000 arrivals, accounting for nearly 27% of total tourist arrivals, more than double that of any other source market. These numbers underscore the deep cultural and travel affinity between India and Sri Lanka and reflect strengthened air connectivity and marketing linkages between the two countries.</div><div><br></div><div>The evening commenced with the Indian and Sri Lankan national anthems and the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by addresses from senior officials of SLTPB, and SriLankan Airlines. Speakers highlighted Sri Lanka’s diverse tourism offerings from pristine beaches and cultural heritage to wildlife, wellness, and adventure and emphasized India’s vital contribution to Sri Lanka’s tourism rebound. Increased travel demand has also led carriers like SriLankan Airlines and Indian airlines to enhance flight frequencies across key Indian cities such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, and Hyderabad, facilitating seamless travel for leisure and business travellers.</div><div><br></div><div>Adding a cultural vibrance to the event, guests enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan performances that showcased the island’s rich artistic heritage. The evening concluded with an engaging networking reception and dinner, offering participants an opportunity to exchange ideas, explore collaboration prospects, and experience authentic Sri Lankan hospitality. A raffle draw added a lively and interactive element to the evening, ensuring an atmosphere of excitement and camaraderie.</div><div><br></div><div>With India firmly positioned as Sri Lanka’s top tourism source market, the SLTPB reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships, promoting destination awareness, and expanding multi-segment travel opportunities including leisure, MICE, weddings, and experiential travel. The child’s father, Sonu Kumar Jha, a devoted follower of Lord Mahadev and a firm believer in Sanatan values, considers the entire experience as a special grace of God.</div><div>According to Sonu Kumar Jha, as soon as his wife Ekta Jha completed nine months of pregnancy, an atmosphere of excitement and positive energy enveloped the family. Coincidentally, Gupt Navratri was underway, and the daughter was born on the third day of Navratri. This rare alignment proved to be an intensely emotional and spiritual experience for the family. Upon receiving the news of his daughter’s birth, Sonu Kumar Jha became emotional at the hospital itself and described the moment as the arrival of divine feminine energy on earth.</div><div>He believes that the timing of his daughter’s birth was not ordinary, but a sacred and divinely chosen moment, which he sees as the incarnation of a blessed soul. The project blends mythological storytelling with contemporary visual effects and emotional depth.</div><div><br></div><div>Music for the film is composed by Sai Karthik, and the cast includes Divi Vadthya, Archana, Arvind Krishna, Prince Cecil, Baahubali Prabhakar, among others. This year, over 100 students aged 10-13 will perform "The Whispering Woods: Ishaan's Journey," an English musical that evolves the conversation from simply observing nature to actively taking responsibility for it.</div><div><br></div><div>At its core, the musical is the culmination of a year-long theatre-based learning programme championed by the Pehlay Akshar Foundation (PAF) that uses performance as a tool for language development and self-expression. Students have worked through a structured curriculum designed to strengthen communication skills, build confidence in spoken English, and nurture creativity through storytelling, music, and movement.</div><div><br></div><div>“We believe that theatre is a powerful tool for personal and social development, especially when combined with language learning. Students learn to express themselves better in English, expanding their vocabulary, refining pronunciation, and gaining a deeper understanding of the language which makes them more confident in their academic and professional lives.”</div><div><br></div><div>As part of this unique initiative, the students had the opportunity to work alongside professionals in theatre set design, drama, and acting, gaining valuable hands-on experience and exposure to the world of performing arts. "I usually spend my free time playing Roblox, so standing on a real stage is a completely new world for me,” says Shaurya, a Class 5 student from Nariyalwadi school. “I do well in English class, but acting has taught me a different kind of confidence. Even though it’s my first time and I’m a little nervous, I’m not afraid. I hope my parents see me up there, because I think I might want to be an actor one day."</div><div><br></div><div>While last year’s production invited audiences to observe nature through the eyes of animals, ‘The Whispering Woods’ shifts the focus to active responsibility. </div><br></div><div>Hyderabad: International Health Dialogue (IHD) 2026 opened today in Hyderabad, bringing together clinicians, patient safety leaders, accreditation experts, and health system policymakers from India and abroad. With the theme Global Voices. One Vision. Day 1 centred patient safety where it truly belongs, as a leadership and governance priority, shaped by equity and enabled by responsible digital transformation. The discussions reflected a clear direction across geographies: India’s lived experience of delivering care at scale, while steadily strengthening standards and accountability, is increasingly informing how the world thinks about patient safety and trust.</div><div><br></div><div>Opening the conference, Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group, recalled the founding purpose of IHD as a platform built for sharing learning that should not remain confined to individual systems. “So much innovation is happening within our hospitals, within our systems. We are learning every day. But why is this knowledge staying within our own ecosystem? Why are we not sharing it more openly?” she said, adding that the intent has always been to “take what we have learned and make it useful for others.” Reflecting the expanding global relevance of the platform, she noted that IHD 2026 received over 5,000 registrations, 300+ paper submissions, and 120+ award entries from 75+ institutions worldwide.</div><div><br></div><div>Setting the tone for outcomes that work in real life, Dr Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary for the Industries & Commerce (I&C) and Information Technology (IT) Departments, Government of Telangana, highlighted why equity must sit at the centre of patient safety design. “When we talk about sharing learning and improving systems, we have to start with the truth that patients are not homogeneous. Different patients live in different worlds, and safety means different things in each,” he said. “An equity lens forces a design lens. If we want patient safety to hold up in the real world, we must design for those who are most vulnerable, and we must plan for continuity, access, and how people actually behave,” he added. On digital inclusion, he observed, “The digital divide is not only infrastructure. Often, the mindset divide is bigger.”</div><div><br></div><div>Across the day, speakers converged on one practical point: patient safety outcomes increasingly depend on how well the ecosystem works as a coordinated whole, across regulators, accreditors, providers, and technology partners. In the opening plenary, Dr. Madhu Sasidhar, President and Chief Executive Officer, Hospitals Division, Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Limited, emphasised shared ownership and organisational accountability. “Patient safety cannot be solved by one stakeholder alone. It requires regulators, governments, accreditors, providers, and technology firms to work as one. Patient safety is not a departmental responsibility. It is in fact an organisational leadership responsibility.”</div><div><br></div><div>From a global quality and safety lens, Dr. Carsten Engel, CEO, International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), reflected on the gap between sustained attention and on-ground improvement. “Patient safety has been on the agenda for decades, but we still have to say we are not there yet,” he said. He cautioned against adding activity without impact, noting, “We risk creating safety clutter, procedures and activities done in the name of safety that do not improve safety.” He urged leaders to adopt a systems view of behaviour and context: “Don’t ask why people didn’t do what they should have done. Ask why it made sense for them to do what they did.”</div><div><br></div><div>On standards and execution, Dr. Atul Mohan Kochhar, CEO, National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH), underlined urgency with an implementation-first approach. “Patient safety is not only a technical issue. It is a moral, social, and economic imperative. Policies alone do not improve safety. Implementation efficiency does,” he said. Reinforcing ambition in measurable terms, he added, “We must be ambitious when it comes to patient safety. Zero harm is the only number that can be accepted for patient safety risk.”</div><div><br></div><div>Building on this emphasis on implementation, accountability, and measurable safety outcomes, Apollo Hospitals also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Roche Diagnostics India as part of Day 1 proceedings to explore the integration of advanced artificial intelligence into clinical decision-making. The collaboration will focus on translating AI-enabled insights into practical, clinician-friendly support across care pathways, strengthening consistency in clinical judgement, earlier risk identification, and safer, more standardised care delivery at scale.</div><div><br></div><div>Apollo’s emphasis on culture-led transformation was articulated by Dr. Rohini Sridhar, Chief of Medical Services, Apollo Hospitals, who stressed that systems improve only when clinical teams move together with the organisation. “Unless clinicians walk with you, zero harm cannot be achieved. If one unit experiences harm, every unit must learn immediately. Technology accelerates learning, but culture determines action.”</div><div><br></div><div>Later in the day, IHD 2026 hosted a dedicated spotlight session for the newly launched digital health startup community, with a curated set of startups pitching to investors.
