Free Camp by Narayan Seva Sansthan
Mumbai : Narayan Seva Sansthan organized a Narayan Limb and Calipers Fitting Camp at Nico Hall, Naigaon Cross Road, near Wadala Udyog Bhavan, Dadar, Mumbai.
The objective of the camp was not only to make physically challenged individuals mobile but also to instill in them a sense of confidence and self-reliance. After being fitted with artificial limbs, the smiles and confidence on the faces of the beneficiaries were clearly visible. In this camp, a total of 419 differently-abled individuals from Mumbai and remote areas were provided with upper-lower and multiple artificial limbs and calipers.
Chief Guest of the event was Jaswant Bhai Shah. The camp was presided over by Shantilal Maru. Distinguished guests included Sadhvi Yati Kishori Devi, Guddi Agrawal, Harsh Bapna (Alok Industries), Shyam Singhania, Narendra (Former Chairman, Indian Overseas Bank), Dr. Srinivas from Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Kamal Lodha, Satish Agrawal, Gopal Halani, and from Tata Tele Services Ltd’s CSR Department – Sheenu Mathai and Sapna Punjabi, as well as volunteers from Cognizant and ICC Island City Center.
Chief Guest Jaswant Bhai Shah said, “Narayan Seva Sansthan is not just empowering the differently-abled but also restoring their lost confidence and eliminating despair. This is a noble initiative for the benefit of society. Only with such intent and spirit can the dream of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ (The world is one family) be realized.” He assured full support to the sansthan and praised the selfless service of the founder Shri Kailash ‘Manav’ and President Prashant Agarwal. He also extended best wishes to the differently-abled beneficiaries who began a new journey by walking on their own feet.
Presiding guest Shantilal Maru stated, “This initiative is aimed at the underprivileged sections of society, especially those who became disabled due to accidents. Our collective goal is to give them a new life and make them self-reliant.”
The camp commenced with a ceremonial lamp lighting. All the guests visited the venue, interacted with the patients, listened to their stories, and observed the limb-fitting process with the doctors. Beneficiaries were given training on using the limbs, and even participated in games like basketball and football.
At the beginning of the event, Narayan Seva Sansthan Director Palak Agarwal, Trustee-Directors Devendra Chobisa and Maharshi Agarwal welcomed the dignitaries on stage with Mewari Tradition.
Director Palak Agarwal said, “To deliver support closer to their homes, we organized a camp in Mumbai on March 23, where over 500 patients attended. Out of them, 419 were selected for Narayan limbs and calipers, who are now receiving the gift of a new life today.” A parade was also held by the beneficiaries wearing artificial limbs, and doctors provided training and information on limb care and maintenance.
Trustee-Director Devendra Chobisa stated, “A large number of differently-abled individuals in Mumbai today returned home fitted with German technology-based Narayan Limbs. These were the same people who had lost their limbs in accidents years ago and had been unable to walk or move since. Their lives had come to a standstill.”
A team of 80 members from Narayan Seva Sansthan rendered their services during the camp. Mumbai Branch Head Mahesh Agarwal extended a vote of thanks to the guests. The event was hosted by Mahim Jain.
Narayan Seva Sansthan has been working with the spirit of ‘Nara Seva, Narayan Seva’ since 1985. Founder Shri Kailash Manav has been honored with the Padma Shri Award by the President of India for his humanitarian service. Recently, on May 30, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also honored him in Delhi under the Community Service and Social Upliftment category.
Under the leadership of President Prashant Agarwal, the sansthan has brought lacs of differently-abled individuals into the mainstream of society through medical treatment, education, skill development, and sports academy initiatives. In 2023, Agarwal was also awarded the National Award by the President of India. So far, the organization has fitted over 40,000 artificial limbs. Narayan Seva Sansthan now aims to work on a larger scale in Mumbai to provide free artificial limbs to the differently-abled and help them restart their halted lives.
