Mumbai : A Walkathon was organized on Sunday morning, 23rd March, at Juhu Beach, by the young team of 11th graders, Aliya Shetty-Oza from Jamnabai Narsee International school, Agastyaa Goradia from Dhirubhai Ambani International School and Fia Inamdar from Kodaikanal International School to spread Mental Health Awareness, a cause which has been very close to their hearts, post Covid when they returned to school. Their supportive parents were with them all the way. The mindovermatter.help Team was ably supported by Prochy Master, Pinkathon Ambassador for Santacruz-Juhu and her enthusiastic Band of Volunteers, with the blessings of Pinkathon Founder, Milind Soman. It was an amazing morning where Juhu Beach was turned into a sea of white with more than 250 participants walking enthusiastically with Placards to spread the message of Mental Health Awareness. The event was graced with the presence of the awe-inspiring Ushatai Soman, who at 84 is as sprightly as ever and a picture of charm and simplicity.
The event was kicked off with some energizing Zumba moves which left the crowd begging for more. This was followed by a session of Laughter Therapy by the Andheri West Pinkathon Ambassador Suvarna Joshi which was thoroughly enjoyable and had the participants in splits with their laughter ringing out in the clear morning air.
Next the dignitaries were called to the stage and felicitated.
A Selfie booth installed at the side ensured that all the participants could take selfies to their heart's content.
The Walkathon was then flagged off by Ushatai Soman and the other dignitaries. The Volunteers from the Santacruz-Juhu group left no stone unturned to ensure the success of the event, right from the Registration of the Participants and distribution of Badges to the giving away of the delicious Snack boxes at the end.
After the participants returned from the Walkathon, Dr. Nandini Jain and her student, Mansi Gala gave a beautiful Demonstration of Kalaripayattu, the ancient Martial Art of Self-defence from Kerala, which is much needed in this day and age and which was much appreciated by one and all.
The huge turnout of Participants and the clock-work precision with which the whole event was conducted by the entire mindovermatter Team and the supportive Pinkathon ladies went a long way in making the Walkathon a stupendous success.
