Mumbai: Industry body ASSOCHAM has launched ASSOCHAM Business Confidence Index (tria launch) which is a composite index of the 20 indicators including GST Collections, Passenger Vehicle Sales, Sensex, India Composite Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI), Exports, Index of Industrial Production (IIP), Index of Core Industries (ICI), Consumer Price Index (CPI), Bank Credit, Digital Payments (Volume), Wholesale Price Index (WPI), Foreign Exchange Reserves, Gross Foreign Direct Investment, Exchange Rate, Repo Rate, Real GDP Growth Rate, Unemployment Rate (%), Current Account Deficit (% of GDP), Fiscal Deficit (% of GDP) and Index based Feedback on effects of Economic Reforms.
The index is based on strong statistical analysis and weights for all indicators. The base month is kept at 100. The movement of the ABC Index remained steady in April-September 2026-27 at 5.6% YoY. The ABC Index grew by 7.5% in 2024-25 and 9.9% in 2025-26.
The Industry Body ASSOCHAM says the Index will progress robustly, with more suggestions from industry and analysts. The Index will provide the monthly value on the last working day of the month in October, November and December 2026 and from January 2027 the Index will become fortnightly.
The ABC Index is a composite index of India’s economic pulse, bringing together 20 key indicators to track whether economic conditions are improving, weakening, or remaining stable. The Index will give businesses, policymakers and investors a broader view of the evolving economic environment and support more informed decision-making, said Nirmal Kumar Minda, President, ASSOCHAM.

The ABC Index has been developed to provide a consolidated view of economic momentum by integrating movements across key indicators and enabling more effective tracking of changing economic conditions, supporting a more informed assessment of the business outlook, said Dr S.
