Published from the Sanskardhani, English Daily Good Morning records a 656-copy lead over The Hitavada in CBC figures
JABALPUR: GOOD MORNING, the English daily published from Jabalpur, has emerged as the leading English daily in the city in terms of certified circulation, according to figures of the Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India.
The Jabalpur edition of GOOD MORNING has a certified daily circulation of 5,850 copies, compared with 5,194 copies for The Hitavada. The figures give GOOD MORNING a lead of 656 copies over The Hitavada in certified circulation.
The achievement assumes significance in Jabalpur, popularly known as the Sanskardhani of Madhya Pradesh and one of the principal urban centres of the Mahakoshal region. With its strong historical, cultural, educational and commercial identity, Jabalpur serves as an important media centre for a large part of eastern and central Madhya Pradesh.
The presence of a growing local English daily in the city also reflects the evolving character of Jabalpur’s readership. While national publications such as The Times of India, The Hindu and Hindustan Times continue to cater to English-language readers in the region, locally focused publications have an important role in bringing the concerns, developments and aspirations of the city and its surrounding areas to the forefront.
For GOOD MORNING, the latest circulation figures mark an important milestone in its journey from Jabalpur. The newspaper has been building its identity around extensive local coverage, public-interest journalism and editorial content focused on issues that matter to readers in the region.
According to the management, the growth in certified circulation represents the confidence placed in the newspaper by its readers. It attributed the achievement to the combined efforts of its editorial and operational teams as well as the continued support of readers, advertisers, distributors and agents.
The newspaper has also been expanding its presence beyond Madhya Pradesh. After strengthening its footprint in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, GOOD MORNING has extended its operations into Chhattisgarh, with an objective of building a wider regional presence while retaining its focus on local journalism.
For Jabalpur, the milestone places a locally published English daily at the centre of an increasingly competitive newspaper market. For GOOD MORNING, it represents both a measure of its growing readership and a new benchmark for its expansion across central India.
The management said the newspaper would continue to focus on credible, independent and public-interest journalism, with Jabalpur remaining an important centre of its editorial and regional operations.
