Mumbai: Following the global launch of its eighth-generation foldable lineup—featuring the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8—Samsung Electronics today shared the engineering innovations and user-centric philosophy that powered the development of its latest flagship devices.

Building on insights gathered over seven previous generations, Samsung’s hardware engineering team prioritized larger, more immersive displays, ultra-performance, and significantly thinner and lighter form factors without compromising durability.

Sunghoon Moon, Executive Vice President and Senior Executive of the Mobile R&D Office – Hardware, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, highlighted Samsung's holistic approach to foldable development.

"From the beginning, we saw foldables as an opportunity to redefine how people interact with their smartphones. Through seven generations, we’ve learned how people open, carry, unfold, and rely on their devices."

"With foldables, every component is interconnected. Making a device thinner, for example, means redesigning the display, hinge, battery, thermal system, and internal architecture together… This end-to-end engineering philosophy extends from materials and component design to manufacturing validation and the final product experience – allowing engineering advancements to become improvements people experience every day."
