Mumbai: Kia India, one of the country’s leading mass-premium automobile manufacturers, has announced a comprehensive set of sustainability-focused initiatives across its 500+ nationwide workshop network and corporate offices during the first week of June, in observance of World Environment Day on June 5. These initiatives reinforce Kia India’s commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices and environmental stewardship while fostering greater awareness among customers, employees, dealer partners, and local communities.
As part of the campaign participating Kia workshops will offer complimentary vehicle emission checks to customers, promote awareness of vehicle performance and its environmental impact via focused sessions. In addition, the company will conduct an e-waste awareness & collection drive campaign for the customers and employees, designating workshops as authorized collection centres for discarded electronic waste, with a target of collecting 1,000+ kilograms of e-waste at 31 different locations.
Sharing his views on the occasion, Bhimsen Gulabani, Vice President - Customer Experience, Kia India said, “Sustainability is not an event; it is an integral part of our business strategy and culture. It is reflected in the way we operate and engage with communities every day. Our workshop network interacts with customers regularly, giving us a unique opportunity to promote awareness and encourage responsible practices at scale. Through initiatives such as emission checks, e-waste collection drives and community engagement activities, we aim to make sustainability a part of everyday customer interactions and contribute to meaningful environmental impact.”
To strengthen environmentally responsible operational practices, Kia India will organize specialized training programmes for workshop personnel on the proper handling, storage, and disposal of used oil. These initiatives are designed to enhance waste management standards across the network and ensure adherence to responsible environmental practices. Furthering its commitment to ecological conservation, Kia workshops will undertake sapling distribution, and plantation drives across various locations.
Kia India will also conduct customer engagement and awareness sessions at workshops to promote understanding of sustainable practices, environmental responsibility, and resource conservation. Through these interactions, the company seeks to encourage informed and responsible environmental behaviour among stakeholders.
As part of its broader sustainability agenda, Kia India will drive energy conservation activities across its facilities, including awareness campaigns promoting efficient power usage and the adoption of renewable energy solutions such as solar power generation at its workshops. Demonstrating its commitment to clean energy, Kia India currently has 132 Green Workshops across its network that collectively generate 9.8 MW of solar power, supporting cleaner operations, reduced carbon emissions, and improved energy efficiency.
