Mumbai: Actress Ananyaa Dutta is garnering appreciation for her impressive performance in the recently released web series Margao Files: The Unsolved Case. Premiered on June 12 on Prasar Bharati’s OTT platform WAVES, the eight-episode detective murder mystery has captivated audiences with its suspenseful storyline, unexpected twists, and gripping narrative.

The series features an ensemble cast of renowned actors, including Zeenat Aman, Kitu Gidwani, Pallavi Joshi, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, Shilpa Shinde, Parveen Dastur, Ankit Bhardwaj, Lilliput, and Tanaaz, among others. The project is written and directed by Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, known for his distinctive storytelling style.

In the series, Ananyaa Dutta plays the pivotal character of Mary, a woman who appears calm and reserved on the surface but carries several dark secrets within. As the story unfolds, viewers gradually discover the hidden layers of her personality, making her character one of the most intriguing elements of the show.

Speaking about the experience, Ananyaa shared that the series was shot at the majestic palaces of Chhota Udaipur and the scenic locations of Goa. She described the shoot as a memorable journey and praised the warm camaraderie among the cast and crew. According to her, the atmosphere on set was so enjoyable that it often felt like being on a picnic rather than at work.

Ananyaa also revealed that she had previously worked with director Kapil Kaustubh Sharma, which made it easier for her to say yes to the project. The engaging script and the strong ensemble cast further convinced her to take up the role.

Talking about the preparation for her character, she explained that Mary’s personality is very different from her own. To portray the role authentically, she worked extensively on her body language, expressions, mannerisms, and speech patterns, ensuring that every aspect of the character felt believable and impactful on screen.

Ananyaa Dutta began her acting journey with the Bengali film Natobar Not Out, where she shared screen space with acclaimed actresses Raima Sen and Moon Moon Sen. She later went on to appear in films such as God Only Knows and Dunno Y3, earning recognition for her versatility and screen presence.

Apart from films, Ananyaa has built an impressive career in theatre. She has been associated with Bharat Dabholkar’s Bottoms Up Gang and has delivered memorable performances in productions such as Oh No, Not Again (over 150 shows), Monkey Business (over 100 shows), Funny Thing Called Love, Got To Be Aishwarya, and Carry On Heaven. Currently, she is entertaining audiences in That’s My Girl alongside Anant Mahadevan and Shweta Rohira. Over the years, she has performed in more than 1,000 stage shows, showcasing her dedication and passion for the performing arts.

A familiar face in the world of advertising and fashion, Ananyaa has worked with leading brands such as Videocon, Close-Up, Sprite, Thums Up, Volkswagen, Nestlé, Onida, Maruti Omni, Castrol, Tetley Tea, Vasmol, and De Beers. She has also appeared in print campaigns for prestigious brands including Colgate, Bisleri, VIP, Citibank, Motorola, and IBM.

In the fashion industry, she has walked the ramp for celebrated designers such as Sabyasachi and Shaina NC, while also being featured in prominent magazines including Femina, Elle, and Society.
