Mumbai: Mahalaxmi Saras 2026, organised under the Umed Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission by the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Government of Maharashtra, has emerged as one of the state’s most remarkable and widely discussed exhibitions this year. Held at BKC, Mumbai, the exhibition has drawn attention for its large scale presentation, modern infrastructure, and unique blend of culture, innovation, and women-led entrepreneurship.
Speaking about the vision and design concept behind this year’s exhibition, Deepali Designs chief Vinay Mittal said that Mahalaxmi Saras 2026 has been created not merely as an exhibition, but as an immersive experience reflecting the journey of rural Maharashtra and the growing strength of women led enterprises.
According to him, the objective was to present Maharashtra’s rural identity on a global platform while giving visitors a completely new and grand exhibition experience.
This year’s edition has been conceptualised on an international scale under the vision and guidance of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore. Moving beyond the format of a conventional exhibition, Mahalakshmi Saras 2026 presents a large-scale cultural and entrepreneurial experience that highlights the creativity, resilience, and aspirations of rural women across the state.
Among the major attractions is the grand installation created using more than 60 shipping containers, symbolising trade, connectivity, and the transformation of local women-led products into globally recognised enterprises. The exhibition also features a massive 40m x 7m anamorphic LED display, artistic lighting, digital experience zones, and fully air-conditioned facilities, including a dedicated AC food court, offering visitors a world-class experience.
Special thematic installations inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Vitthal-Rukmini, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule, and Savitribai Phule have also been incorporated throughout the venue, reflecting Maharashtra’s cultural and social legacy while celebrating women’s empowerment and rural transformation.
