Singer and dancer Anupriya Chatterjee, who hails from Banaras, has been active in the Bollywood and TV industry for the past several years and has created a distinct identity for herself with her melodious voice and excellent dance. Anupriya, who received formal training in music and Kathak at Banaras Hindu University, also had a family environment that was full of music, which gave direction to her talent since childhood.
Anupriya came to Mumbai to expand her art and it was from here that her career took a new flight. Initially, she met renowned violinist Surendra Singh Atra, a disciple of famous musician Pyarelal. It was from here that her singing career began on a professional level. Anupriya sang songs for the Hindi versions of South Indian films, which gave her wide recognition. While staying under her guidance, she also met Asha Bhosle and Asha Tai praised her singing wholeheartedly.
Anupriya sang songs in the film '72 Hours with Sukhwinder Singh' (a biopic). She was also a playback singer in 'Pyaar Ke Do Naam' and the Punjabi film 'Proper Patola'. Her voice has also resonated in TV serials like 'Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon', 'Madhubala', 'Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai', 'Do Dil Ek Jaan', 'Crazy Stupid Ishq' and 'Maayke Se Bandhi Dor'.
Her voice was also heard in the music videos 'Yeh Junoon Ishq Ka' and 'Rang Sharbaton Ka'. Apart from this, she has also recorded many songs for channels like Aastha, Sanskar, Divya and Inbox Music. Anupriya has sung songs in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, Odia, Kannada, Tamil, Bhojpuri, Telugu, Punjabi and Rajasthani languages.
Anupriya has also taken special training in dance. She learned Kathak from Renu Sharma, a disciple of the famous Kathak Samrat Birju Maharaj and performed on many stages under her guidance. She also danced in Soma Ghosh's music video Banarasiya.
Anupriya, who is adept at both singing and dancing, has a special interest in singing. She practices regularly and listens to songs of different genres, languages and moods. She says, "Music is a sadhana. Mastery in singing is not possible without practice. Your truth comes out in live performances." She takes special care of her voice and for this, she also takes full care of her diet and health. She does yoga and meditation daily.
In singing, she especially likes soft and romantic songs. Anupriya started learning dance from the ninth class and singing from the eleventh class. She has also taken proper training in Bollywood style.
She has done live shows with Lalit Pandit, Shaan, Anup Jalota, Javed Ali and many other big singers. She keeps doing her music shows not only in India but also abroad. Legends like Pandit Hariprasad Chaurasia have also been the chief guests in her shows.
Currently, Anupriya has many music shows lined up and soon her item song is also going to be released in a film. Her journey in the world of music continues and the list of her songs is also continuously getting longer.
