Mumbai : In a mesmerizing showcase held at Purple Penguin venue, Cadence Academy Mumbai presented “RAMP INFERNO" an unforgettable fashion show that introduced designer Samiksha Sharma’s latest collection, The Seven Sins of Everyday Life. This groundbreaking collection captivated audiences with its exploration of fashion’s dark allure, inspired by the seven deadly sins—lust, envy, pride, wrath, greed, sloth, and gluttony. Each piece in Sharma’s collection represents a familiar sin, drawing attention to the shared human tendencies we encounter daily. Dominated by a striking palette of deep reds and blacks, the designs evoked themes of temptation, power, and self-reflection.
The collection masterfully translates these themes into garments that seduce, provoke, and inspire. Lust is embodied in delicate lace fabrics that drape seductively around the body, revealing and concealing just enough to captivate. Flowing capes and long, cascading trains add a touch of mystery, enhancing the allure with each step.
Pride comes to life through elaborate gowns adorned with lace and floor-length wings, symbolizing grandeur and self-assurance. The ethereal wing-like extensions and sheer, lace fabric evoke a sense of regality, blending confidence with elegance. This design invites onlookers to feel the majesty and poise that pride inspires.
Envy is expressed through a long, mermaid-style skirt paired with a structured corset, showcasing intricate detailing in black and red. A dramatic whale tail extends from the center, with a crimson cross symbolizing the jealousy of human desire to rise above. An embellished crown reminiscent of Jesus Christ’s crown of thorns sits atop the model’s head, capturing the sin’s theme of envy—its longing to possess the power held by divine figures.
Wrath is showcased in a powerful black leather jacket with an intricate backbone design on the back, billowing smoke to symbolize the energy and strength rooted in this sin. The spine-like design hints at the essential power of the human backbone, without which we would collapse—just as wrath fuels our strength and determination. The smoky detail intensifies the visual, embodying the fire within that wrath ignites.
Hell itself emerged as the grand finale. The collection’s queen of hell commanded the runway in a non-viable foam-crafted gown, representing a figure that rules over the domain of sin. A massive, sculptural headpiece crowns the model, conveying the overwhelming power of hell itself. This formidable, avant-garde outfit combines regal authority with a surreal edge, symbolizing ultimate control over the underworld’s dark forces.
As each model took to the runway, the audience could sense the raw emotion and meaning stitched into every seam by Samiksha Sharma, who personally crafted each piece in the collection. Known for her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to authenticity, Sharma ensured that every outfit was a work of art, blending high fashion with personal introspection.
The Seven Sins of Everyday Life isn’t just a collection; it’s a reflection of human nature, an invitation for audiences to confront the darker sides of themselves. “These sins are part of us all,” Sharma explained, “and I wanted to capture them in a way that feels real—fashion as a mirror to our everyday lives.”
This event at ramp inferno solidified Samiksha Sharma's reputation as a daring, thoughtful designer unafraid to explore the complex interplay between style, emotion, and the human experience.
