Akshay Kumar on Work, Luck, and Passion: A Candid Conversation on a recent podcast with the MamaEarth founder
Akshay Kumar on Finding Joy in Work: 'I'm Lucky to Do What I Love'
Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar has sworn to entertain his fans throughout his journey at the movies. Even his latest film Sarfira comes from that place of passion where he wishes to tell a good story. But sadly, this passion and enthusiasm from Akshay have left a section of people also criticizing him for 'working too much'. The actor has been questioned time and again for doing 4 films a year, his passion has been misconstrued as a greedy motive to make more money.
While Akshay has walked through all this criticism with his head held high, the actor has focused on dishing out the best of films. And as he plans on continuing to do that, he opened up about this concern from people in a recent podcast and asked what should he do otherwise.
During a conversation with Mamaearth founder Gazhal Alagh, Akshay said, "I have been told why I do four films a year, and that I should do only one film. If I just do one film, what should I do on other days? Many people tell others they work too much, lucky are those people who get work. In this day and age, so many people don't get work, they are unemployed, but at least let the ones who are getting work, work."
While Akshay's conversation with Gazhal was an ode from one Sarfira to another. It was to bring out another success story fueled with perseverance, Akshay asked Gazhal if she thought he could do business. Responding to Akshay, Gazhal said that he was a brand himself. Further explaining his point, Akshay said, "Acting is one business where I cannot send anybody on my behalf. So I will not be able to give as much time to a business."
While they spoke on this Gazhal also shared how being cheated in business is a big deal breaker and the detachment after that is difficult. Adding to this Akshay also shared how he has been professionally cheated. "I detach from a person if someone cheats me. I go quiet and take a side path. I have been cheated professionally, a couple of producers have not paid me, that is cheating only."
Akshay's latest film Sarfira has gotten a great reception from the audience. The film has been quite appreciated by fans. It is based on the real-life story of a man who made budget-friendly air travel possible for the common man.
Well, his fans can never get enough of him, no matter he does 1 film or 4.
