Indian indices ended higher for the second consecutive day led by the financial sector.
Nifty went up by 1.23% or 138.25 points and closed at 11,385.35, while S&P BSE Sensex went up by 1.26% or 477.54 points and closed at 38,528.32.
Around 1860 shares advanced, 886 shares declined, while 132 shares remained unchanged.
Grasim (6.50%), UltraTech Cement (3.33%), Kotak Mahindra Bank (3.01%), JSW Steel (3.12%), and Zee Entertainment (2.70%) were among top Nifty gainers, while BPCL (1.25%), Tech Mahindra (0.91%), HCL Tech (0.56%), Cipla (0.80%), and IOC (0.51%) were among top Nifty losers.
All the sectoral indices traded green except marginal losses in the pharma sector. BSE Midcap went up by 1.16% and BSE Smallcap rose by 1.33%.
Vascon Engineers Limited
Stocks of Vascon Engineers Limited went down by 5.22% and traded at Rs.10.90 after the company reported a consolidated net loss of Rs. 37.3 crore during the first quarter of the FY21. The consolidated revenue of the company declined by 66.8%.
KNR Constructions Limited
The consolidated net profit of the company rose by 8.8% while the consolidated revenue of the company was down by 1.5%. The stock price of the company went up by 6.22% and traded at Rs. 241.50.
PNB Housing Finance Limited
The stocks of PNB Housing Finance Limited went up by 8.72% and traded at Rs.261.90 led by the announcement of the Board of Directors meeting to be held to consider fund raising by issuance of Equity shares or other securities.
Birlasoft Limited
The company announced a global strategic cloud alliance with Microsoft. The alliance is aimed at helping the clients accelerate their digital journey. The stocks of the company surged by 14.69% and traded at Rs.172.20 after the announcement.
Voltas Limited
AC maker Voltas Limited reported a net profit of Rs. 102.86 crore for the June ended quarter. The net profit of the company declined by 30.05% while net sales went down by 50.34%. The stock prices however went up by 2.43% and traded at Rs. 644.40.
GPT Infraprojects Limited
The stocks of GPT Infraprojects Limited surged by 10.61% and traded at Rs. 30.75 after the company managed to bag an order for the Metro Railway project in Kolkata. The project is worth Rs.196.30 crore.
CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited
Stocks of the company went up by 4.66% and traded at Rs.14.60 after Singularity Holdings acquired around 35 lakh shares of the company at Rs.13.95 per share.
Indian Rupee
Indian rupee ended at Rs.74.75 against the US Dollar as buying was seen in the domestic equity markets.
Gold
Gold prices went up by 1% surpassing the $2,000 mark. This happened as the US Dollar weakened to a more than two-year low.
Global Market Cues
The Asian as well as the European markets were in the green during the day as Sino-US tensions weighed on the optimism generated among the investors. Nasdaq went up by 1.00%, FTSE 100 rose by 0.29%, FTSE MIB went up by 0.85%, Nikkei 225 declined by 0.20%, and Hang Seng rose by 0.08%.
