Awareness Lecture on “Online Navra Nako Ga Bai...” Conducted

Young Women Walk the Ramp in Bridal Attire; Showcasing the Diversity of Wedding Traditions

Mumbai: In view of the changing social scenario and the rising cases of fraud, fake identities, and criminal activities in online matrimonial platforms, an awareness program titled “Online Navra Nako Ga Bai...” was recently organized. The event was jointly conducted by Netra Enterprises’ “We Mukta” platform and Swift Detective and Investigations at Shubhamangal Hall, 2nd Floor, Everest Shopping Centre, above Bata showroom, opposite the station, Lokmanya Chowk, Dombivli.

The keynote speaker, Priya Kakade (Director, Swift Detective and Investigations), guided women with real-life examples about the risks associated with online matrimonial platforms, instances of fraud, and ways to prevent them. She emphasized that many women fall victim to emotional and financial fraud through fake profiles, making awareness and caution essential.

She also elaborated on issues such as extramarital affairs, collecting evidence for divorce cases, and the growing distance in relationships due to social media. During her lecture, Priya Kakade stated that many women are being trapped in the name of love, marriage, or emotional security. Nearly 90 percent of profiles on such platforms are fake, and in some cases, incidents involving financial fraud as well as trafficking of women have been reported.
A major highlight of the event was the “Bridal Ramp Walk Competition,” where this year only young women participated, confidently presenting themselves in bridal attire. Blending tradition with modernity, the fashion show showcased the rich diversity of wedding cultures across India. Bridal costumes from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Maharashtra, as well as Marwadi and Buddhist communities, received an enthusiastic response from the audience.

The event was co-sponsored by Sonaroopam Jewellers and Ujwalaz Beauty Salon and Academy. Amit Dongre, Head of Labour Welfare, Public Relations, and Human Resource Development Department at Haffkine Bio-Pharmaceutical Corporation under the Government of Maharashtra, cyber networking expert and consultant Swapnesh Mali, Makhan Mandrai, Ujwala Chavan, and Netra Gujarathi, founder of “We Mukta,” were present on the occasion.

The fashion show featured traditional Maharashtrian Nauvari saree, Rajasthani ghagra-choli with gota-patti work, Gujarati Panetar saree with Gharchola, Kerala’s Kasavu saree, and attire from Marwadi and Buddhist communities, reflecting cultural richness, grace, and diversity.

At the end of the program, all participants were felicitated with mementos and certificates. Netra Gujarathi, founder of “We Mukta,” stated that the main objective of the platform is to create awareness among women by encouraging open discussions on sensitive social issues. The program also provided valuable guidance on pre-matrimonial profile verification, fraud prevention, and methods of collecting evidence with the help of detective agencies.

The organizers expressed confidence that such initiatives help women become more aware and empowered, while also enabling them to identify and protect themselves against emerging criminal trends in matrimonial systems.
